AniMates is CIT’s new meeting space for animators, character designers, writers and makers, to meet and engage. The network is part of our Puppet Masters Animation Programme, which runs throughout the year.
This informal meet-up encourages a collaborative environment for inspiration, conversations and links between a wide range of artists, students and professionals alike.
Each session features an exciting guest speaker, and there will be opportunities to share and discuss your own projects and process too.
For 8th July, we’re delighted to feature talks from Steve Henderson, director of Manchester Animation Festival, who will give insights into the Festival’s work and what’s coming this year. And we also welcome animator Steve Boot who has brought characters to life for over 20 years, working at Cosgrove Hall Films between 1999 - 2008 and onto Mackinnon and Saunders, where he works now.
His credits include, Raa Raa the Noisy Lion (2012), Roary the Racing Car (2007-2010), Postman Pat (2004 -2006), Bob the Builder (2001-2005) and Andy Pandy (2002). Steve has also worked independently on short films including Once Upon a Blue Moon (2015).
Along with our speakers, there is a chance to say hello to some of the puppets from Cosgrove Hall’s Wind in the Willows who have recently returned to Waterside after a 26 year adventure!
