POSTMAN PAT: Welcome to Greendale, Cosgrove Hall Archive

Lauriston Gallery, 20 Nov 21 - 08 Jan 21

This exhibition took you on Postman Pat’s postal route, as he takes you through the heart of Greendale, meet the residents, for the first time in their natural habitat of Greendale.

Postman Pat was created and written by John Cuncliffe (Postman Pat, Rosie & Jim), following the life of the village Postal worker Pat, who works at the heart of his rural community, helping Mrs Goggins, Ted Glen and others to resolve everyday dilemmas. Cuncliffe lived in Greenside, Kendal for most of his life, using the local landscape and experiences of rural life to inspire his stories of a kind hearted community.

The village of Greendale is based on Longsleddale, a Cumbrian village near Kendal. The sets are based on the Cumbrian landscape surrounding Kendal. Twisting roads, pitched rock hedges nestled amongst the steep hills, and sheep littering the landscape remind us of the Lake District. The weather and the landscape provide Pat with problems and adventures - snow, floods, high winds.
