Waterside showcases both established figures and exciting contemporary artists in our exhibition spaces. The CIT team delivers a visual arts programme that features animation, contemporary photography and contemporary 2D and 3D design.

THE LAURISTON GALLERY

The Lauriston Gallery is an airy, well lit space overlooking the picturesque Waterside Plaza and Bridgewater Canal. A dedicated gallery, The Lauriston is the centre's main art space. It is reserved for solo shows and touring exhibitions by established figures and contemporary artists.

Free entry Monday to Saturday 10:00 - 17:00 (except when being used for private functions. Please ring ahead of your visit to check: 0161 912 5616)

GALLERY ‘74

Gallery '74 is used for the display of small exhibitions, celebrating work from emerging practitioners and innovative community art projects.

Also named “Corridor Gallery” in the past.

Screenlight

SCREEN LIGHT

Screen Light is used for the display of video art projects, featuring artists using moving image and animation in their practice.

The display is situated in Waterside’s foyer, bringing contemporary work to all visitors to the venue.


ARTIST SUPPORT

Curator Incubator

A development programme for aspiring curators. This project is an opportunity for emerging curators to co-devise forthcoming exhibitions at Waterside, covering contemporary art, digital art and animation. A series of talks, open to all, from leading curators further explores the curator’s work.
